Demag Cranes AG

When we started working for Demag, a globally active manufacturer of industrial and harbour cranes, their requirement was succinct but challenging: “We want a business-oriented website.”

The online strategy we subsequently developed was: a global corporate website plus national websites – based on the marketing philosophy “be global, act local”. The national websites are able to meet local sales requirements, while also reflecting worldwide social and cultural differences.

In the first roll-out phase, no less than 21 websites were realised in 25 languages.

Implementation of this strategy also entailed the examination of social media activities and the introduction of social media monitoring. A further important factor for the success of the new websites was the use of standardised corporate wording, which was developed and implemented by us in conjunction with search engine optimisation. We are also involved in search engine marketing worldwide. In doing so, we are well aware of the specific challenges posed by the relevant national market leaders, which in China and Russia, for instance, are not Google.
